Dr. Finbarr Brereton and Dr. Craig Bullock of UCD will discuss the results of a study on how people perceive their quality of life in Leitrim and rural Ireland, including economic prospects, migration, local amenities, housing, planning and the environment.
We will make comparisons with the more recent data showing how quality of life in Ireland now compares with other EU states and inviting the audience to comment on the current situation.

GILLAROO PROJECT-TRACING THE PAST
The Gillaroo Project is organising a series of discussions on tracing the farming and rural past. John Cunnigham will be hosting the next two sessions. The first will take place in The New Ballagh Centre, Rossinver on Monday 20th of February at 8pm. The topic for this discussion will be social life in rural areas in times gone by.The second discussion will take place on Monday 27th Febuary at 8pm in the Kiltyclogher Community Centre. The topic for this discussion will be smuggling along border areas in times gone by. All are welcome so please come along and bring a friend! Genealogy Classes Kiltyclogher, Cashel, Garrison and Rossinver
The Gillaroo Communities Project is organising a series of genealogy classes to help people trace their family tree. There will be 10 sessions which will commence on the 7th of March and run until June 2012. There will be day trips to both Belfast and Dublin to visit the national archives. The course is open to community members of Kiltyclogher, Cashel, Garrison and Rossinver. Places for this course are limited so booking is required.
