TRAINING AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Twin Traditions: An exciting new project for 2012

The Twin Traditions Initiative as part of Carrick-on-Shannon Heritage Group is offering an exciting new project for 2012. Are you interested in history? Would you like to learn more about your community? Are you over eighteen years of age? Do you live near Carrick-on-Shannon or Enniskillen? If you can answer yes to all four questions, the Twin Traditions historical research project might be of interest to you!

We are looking for volunteers to participate in an initial 15 session training programme (free of charge). From the programme an opportunity exists to learn how to research local history and apply these skills in practice. There will be a number of trips to repositories of historical information e.g. National Library. The programme is scheduled to start in early/mid February 2012. A historical researcher will facilitate the programme in Ballinamore Library, which has kindly agreed to accommodate the programme. The session schedule will be agreed with the recruited participants.

This project is supported by the IFI, Leitrim County Council and Leitrim Enterprise Board among others. If you would like to know more about this programme, please contact: Sheila McArdle, Twin Traditions Co-ordinator by e-mail: twintraditionscarrick@gmail.com or by telephone: (071) 962 1757
